Experience in tow results in a turnkey project

Years of experience and development in diverse markets have now led to the realization of a turnkey project for acetate tow production. This project includes the plaiting of the tow, the automatic transport of the tow-cans from the plaiting units to the three tow presses.

Our tow plaiting system ensures a high-speed, accurate and reliable plaiting action and is equipped with anti-static ionization devices.

The automatic tow can handling system is built out of robust chain conveyors and transfer shuttles. Each tow can from each plaiting position can automatically be transferred to each of the 3 tow presses. To ensure a continuous operation and the possibility to do maintenance, we foresee extra parking positions. The control system keeps track of the exact location of each can at all times.

An accurate loading system ensures a smooth transfer of the tow into the pressing box and a high compression hydraulic bale press produces a high density bale. Wrapping and strapping can be done manually or automatically, depending on the capacity, labor intensity and budget.

The bale removal system is cleverly integrated into the pressing unit to avoid additional costs. The bale handling system consists of shuttles, lifting and turning devices with integrated weighing system that gather all the bales to 1 central position to facilitate the transfer to the warehouse. Valvan also provides complete warehousing facilities to extend the duration of independence of the baling units.

New delivery horizontal baling press with POLYTIER

We have developed an innovative tying system, the POLYTIER, which automatically ties off the bales with high-strength polypropylene to ensure  strong reliable knots that do not break or stretch.

Originally designed to meet the requirements of RDF and MSW processors, this innovation now also attracts attention from the textile recycling market. The fully-automatic, high pressure horizontal baling press with POLYTIER can be used to produce high compression non-woven PP bales, consisting of a single material. This allows a 1-step recycling into granulates by shredding and feeding into a PP-extruder.

Using PP-cord instead of steel wire improves operator safety and ergonomics: no sharp edges that cause injuries during handling and light PP-cord rolls that are easy to handle.

It reduces maintenance and repair costs by avoiding that metal pieces can damage machinery in the bale opening process or oil pollution of your product.

Additional savings can be found in the reduced strapping cost that amounts to 1,4 €/bale in comparison with steel wire.

Compared to fully automatic vertical baling presses, this concept involves a lower investment cost and more compact design for an equal capacity.

Intelligent design at a low price

Valvan has redesigned the basic single box press for the production of large bales of used clothing. The previous design dated from 2008 and it was time for an update.

The bottom structure of the press is made lower without compromising the strength of the machine. This allows a much lower filling height with the same volume. The total height is also reduced to fit in low buildings.

We introduced a new and improved door locking mechanism and we equipped the top pressing plate with a simple but effective retaining system for the wrapping material.

The updated electrical control system with 2-hand controls ensures operator safety at all times.

And most importantly, due to intelligent design, we were able to reduce the labour cost with a lower selling price as a result!

Record breaking capacity in export bales!

Valvan has successfully designed and tested a new high-capacity baling system for efficiently producing export bales up to 100 kg/ bale at a rate of 60 bales/ hour with only 2 operators for weighing, filling and baling.

The machine is specifically designed for baling bulk material with 40 tons pressing force into the ideal dimensions for maximizing container loading.

A semi-automatic loading and weighing system accounts for a fast cycle and the operator intervention at the end ensures an accurate weight/ bale. 3 storage positions for loads between the filling and baling system compensate for  the difference in working speed.

The baling  system consists of 2 baling units with alternate cycles ,so that only 1 central hydraulic unit is required with an optimal use of the available power.  The wrapping of the bale is done manually to allow the use of different wrapping materials / colors for different items. This operation requires only 1 person for the 2 baling units. This person also overviews the baling system from a central operator desk. The applied safety scanners allow easy but safe access for the operator.

The bales are automatically strapped with PES-strap by a fast high-tension strapping system. By moving the strapping system between the 2 baling units, 2 strapping heads suffice to obtain this high capacity.

A bale evacuation system ensures all bales arrive at 1 exit position, where they can be taken to storage.

The PC controlled system keep track of the production, the baled materials and the weights. This information can be used and exchanged with the customer’s stock management system.
