> History

In 1968, during the period that the West-Flanders still had a flowering flax growing, Valvan started the production of flax drying installations. Thanks to these installations, the flax factories were less dependent from the weather.

Due to the tripling of the oil prices in 1973, the flax dryers were no longer profitable and Valvan had to start its search for a new product. The first oil crisis implied the beginning of environmental consciousness and Valvan started the production of waste containers for the recycling industry. It was a good functioning workshop with 10 to 12 people. Through the engineer’s mentality, Valvan started the construction of waste compactors and baling presses for textile waste and experienced a strong growth.

In the 90’s, the two divisions of the company grew apart. The mass production of waste containers and the production of presses, which required for each order a custom made concept and therefore a separate project, were finally housed in two separate companies in 1997 : Valvan Containers & Milieutechniek and Valvan Baling Systems. In that same year, the new company buildings in the Krommebeekstraat were inaugurated.

In 2000, Valvan Baling Systems and LVD fiber baling join forces. The engineering teams are united in Menen and bring their know-how together to aim at their main objective, which is the further improvement of existing fiber baling presses and the development of reliable full-automatic wrapping systems.

In 2002, a local competitor, Piferoen Engineering, went bankrupt and Valvan Baling Systems took over the service and sales of their machinery. An extremely modern production module offers Valvan Baling Systems the possibility to produce heavier and bigger machines. Through the continuous growth of the company, it was necessary to build new offices in 2004. In 2007 the workshop was again expanded.

In 2005, Valvan Baling Systems acquired the Bump Press business from St-Eloi (since 1908), France. The complete product range is produced, and full service is given on the ± 2000 machines still working all over the world.
