The idea is to automate all the handling around the sorting: bringing material to the sorters, evacuation of sorted material to a second sorting or to the presses. The sorting itself is done by hand: throwing the item in the appropriate box.
Advantages, compared to a manual sorting system:
- Higher total sorting capacity per employee
- Less material handling
- Less noise (lift trucks for instance)
- Detailed overview of the production at any time of the day
- More flexibility => faster response to changing markets
- Improved ergonomics for the sorters
- Occupies less floor space
Technical design
Since 4 years, we have been testing a new idea: a voice-operated sorting system.
It has the same advantages as the automated sorting system and even more:
- Even higher sorting capacity
- Practically unlimited number of items that can be sorted at once
- Number of mistakes decreases
- Easy adaptation of items in the sorting operation
- Improved ergonomics (no more throwing)
- Smaller quantities arriving in the second sorting
- Continuous measurement of productivity per sorter
- Continuous quality control of the incoming material
- Detailed list of items and their quantity
- Occupies even less floorspace
